Our most excellent, super cool scouts of Troop 401 in Auburn,WA, had a stellar time in the mountains this last weekend. A crackling fire, gallons of cocoa, and great food, ( this time provided by the adults), and the lodge was a perfect setting for them to plan out all the outings for 2013.
The entire thing was scout lead, and adult supervised. They chose a variety of canoeing, hiking, biking, enough that they will be working on the Bicycling Merit Badge as a troop for the year, boating to a Puget Sound island, car camping, and just plain playing in the outdoors.
Flashlight tag in the dark and pouring rain concerned we adults, but when interviewed the scouts rave about it. GENERATION GAP ALERT!!!!!
The three fold service project was a success, the Saturday evening skits with Cub Pack 432 was super fun, and I need to mention the Sunday morning Chapel service went well.
Kudo's to the scouts of Troop 401. I'm very proud of you all.

Well. I'm disappointed. I was going to reduce the font of the book from 12 Pt. to 11 Pt. This would shorten the book over 100 pages and reduce the retail cost significantly... right! Wrong!!! the savings would be a whopping $1.23. Why make the changes if the price barrier is not affected?
I still am pursuing a way to get the price below $10.00, but I'm stumped. You'll love the book and fall in love with the characters. You'll glean information, laugh your sides sore, and have things to talk about, but I agree the price is steep and I get $1. per book.
How do I break this barrier? How do I get the BOOK price to less than a DVD? This is a real pickle, and I am open to ideas.
